Competition for the market is keen among the New York newspapers.  

  Not long ago, a famous actress was hospitalized.  Looking
  for a scoop, the POST sent a lady reporter out to get the story.  She
  was to dress up as a nurse, sneak into the hospital, and interview the
  actress.

  The next day the reporter returned to the office.  
  Her editor asked, "Did you get the story?"

  The lady reporter said, 
  "No.  I got thrown out by the doctor from the DAILY NEWS!"
